"Apple also updated the Airport Express today."

Looks like it's about the size of the Apple TV, nice change.

"What if you had degrees in symbolic systems and computer science from Stanford University? And what if you were one of Google's first 20 employees? What home router would you get?"

She decided on an Airport Extreme base station and a couple of Airport Express devices for her home network. Sounds like good advice to me, especially since that is what I use at home. What are your thoughts?

"Good news If you've got a Sonos music system and an Apple AirPort Express: a free software update will make your multi-room Sonos system AirPlay compatible."

The update called Sonos System Software 3.4 gives you AirPlay compatibility to the Sonos music system. However, you do need to have an Apple AirPort Express to make it work. You can find out more about this update here, and if you have a Sonos system it sounds like a no-brainer to me.

"Another update lost in all the chaos today is the new multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology added to the Airport Express and Time capsule."

Last but not least, this along with an improved antenna will give you 50% better Wi-Fi performance and 25% better range, at least according to Apple. More at this link direct from Apple.

"Initial problems with use of iTunes 9 are beginning to emerge, now the software has emerged from internal testing into a wider user base."

Several reports of iTunes 9 not working happily with Airport Express when trying to use the AirTunes feature. Nothing specific as far as narrowing down the problem, as it is happening on Macs and PCs, as well as 802.11n and 802.11g networks. Some reporting quality issues, some reporting dropped signals and some reporting that it works great! Not very helpful if you are having the problem, but you aren't alone (like that is supposed to make you feel better right?).
